In this time, I want to talk about one of my favourite wehrmacht’s general, Erwin Rommel. Erwin Rommel was born in Heidenheim on 1981. Erwin Rommel is known as a great military tactician in his battlefields especially in Africa front where he is touted as The Desert Fox. His brilliant ability is very known not only in Germany but also in the Allied countries, even Winston Churchill, England’s Prime Minister, gives highest honour when he talked in England parliament : “We undoubtfully face a brave and genious enemy, he is a great general, Erwin Rommel.
His Africa campaigns were begin when he was appointed by Adolf Hilter to help Italy’s forces in Tripoly, Libya on 12 Pebruary 1941. He was also promoted as Genneralleutnant by Hilter and was given XV Light Motor Division which supported by V Panzer division on May. This two divisions was located in Rommel’s commando and known as Deutsche African Corps which is very popular.
Erwin Rommel is a dynamic general who also has great understanding about panzer war tactical principils. In his opinion, North Africa desert will gives advantages for his panzer division because his panzer can maneuver freely. His great sense about North Africa Desert makes Erwin Rommel was called as Desert Fox.
